We are looking for an enthusiastic Rehabilitation Assistant to work with an eleven-year-old boy with an acquired brain injury. Our client has some physical needs in terms of balance, co-ordination and fatigue.  He requires support to access the curriculum at school, manage his fatigue and help him to access and participate in social activities.

Our client is motivated to work on his development, and follows therapy programmes which include physiotherapy, Speech and Language Therapy, and Occupational Therapy. The Rehabilitation Assistant will be responsible for working with our client and his family to implement these therapy programmes, and liaise with the team to ensure his continued development.

Our client has a passion for sports, football in particular.  We would like the Rehabilitation Assistant to be able to help him access leisure activities. It is therefore essential that you hold a full driving licence and have your own vehicle.

Full training will be provided but experience of working with similar clients would be an advantage as well as working with families in their home which is a non-smoking environment.

The Rehabilitation Assistant would be required to pick up our client from school, drive him home and provide support for him in the family home. There will also be hours available during the school holidays to ensure that our client continues to receive valuable support and participate in social activities.

It is essential that the Rehabilitation Assistant is enthusiastic, able to take their own initiative and be energetic.

Experience & Qualities required for the role:

A Rehabilitation Assistant who has experience of working with children with physical and cognitive difficulties.Experience of implementing therapy programmes and strategies.Excellent communication skills.Commitment to assisting the client in engaging in leisure activities.Understanding of the need for close observation at all times and monitoring health and well-being.
